Rays place closer Fairbanks on 15-day IL because of left hip inflammation
CHICAGO — The main league-best Tampa Bay Rays positioned nearer Pete Fairbanks on the 15-day injured checklist due to irritation in his left hip on Monday.
Manager Kevin Cash mentioned Fairbanks texted that he was feeling higher than he did when he left the ballpark on Sunday, although he was nonetheless sore. He is scheduled for extra checks on Tuesday.
