Winnipeg police say two individuals have been arrested, and extra costs are coming, after police shut down an unlawful magic mushroom dispensary on Osborne Street Friday
The retailer within the first 100 block of Osborne had solely been open just a few days, however police say a whole bunch of individuals had already purchased psilocybin and different managed substances.
The Organized Crime Division says it was in direct violation of the Controlled Drugs and Substances act, and the shop is now closed.
Health Canada says there are not any accredited therapeutic merchandise containing psilocybin in Canada or elsewhere and that’s why police stepped in.
“We initiated a full-scale drug investigation, so this is not just going to be drug trafficking, it’s going to be inter-provincial drug trafficking. We have other warrants going on in the city right now,” stated Winnipeg Police Inspector Elton Hall.
“This isn’t acceptable, it’s illegal. It’s not safe, people who are using these don’t know where they’re coming from. We know they’re from out of province, and that’s it.”
Global News has reached out to the shop’s lawyer for a response, however has but to listen to again.
Police received’t be pursuing anybody who bought merchandise from the shop.
