This time Friday, Saskatchewan highways shall be full of motorists on their approach to go tenting for the May lengthy weekend.

“Really excited because we do this a lot,” stated Parker. “I remember doing it as a kid with my family. It’s one of bringing the tradition to my son.”

And for these campers trying ahead to a chilly one, this weekend is the one time it’s allowed in provincial parks.

“Alcohol consumption can be undertaken in parks. Like you can walk up and down with the beach, carry a beer or your margarita what have you (but) it has to be within your camp site or at your cabin,” stated Campese.

The province does need to put a damper on one tenting custom: there’s a fireplace ban in place.
