The hearth advisory issued for the east and west divisions in Rocky View County, Alberta, has been upgraded to a fireplace ban.
Rocky View County Fire Services stated in a launch Thursday the ban will stay in impact so long as high-risk situations stay.
It listed a number of kinds of fires which might be strictly prohibited:
- Incinerators (for farm and acreage use)
- Burning barrels
- Recreational campfires
- Any fires contained inside services and home equipment in designated tenting and leisure areas
- Chimeneas
During a fireplace ban, all burning and fireworks permits are suspended, with the next exceptions:
- Indoor family fireplaces
- Camp stoves (correctly attended)
- Barbecues (charcoal briquettes, propane, or pure gasoline)
- Wood pellet grills
- Propane/pure gasoline hearth pit
- Oil nicely flaring (registration required — name 403-264-1022)
Any one who ignites, fuels, supervises, maintains or permits an out of doors hearth inside the municipal boundaries of Rocky View County throughout a fireplace ban may be fined $1,000. Should the hearth get uncontrolled and an emergency hearth response is required, the particular person answerable for the hearth may be charged the total firefighting prices.
