PSAC strike could push air passenger complaints processing beyond 18 months
GATINEAU, Que. –
The strike by federal civil servants might imply passengers who filed complaints with the nation’s airline regulator might face even longer processing instances.
The Canadian Transportation Agency says a backlog of complaints on points starting from misplaced baggage to compensation for cancelled flights now sits at almost 45,000 — a processing time of 18 months per case on common.
That’s greater than triple the tally from a 12 months in the past after journey chaos erupted in the course of the summer time and winter holidays as a result of hovering demand, labour shortages and poor climate.
Employees on the regulator are among the many members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada that started a strike Wednesday.
The company says its dispute decision actions could also be topic to delays.
It says regulatory actions such because the issuing of air licences in addition to rulings on air, rail and marine points will proceed, with potential disruptions.
