‘Extremettes’ Maritime women’s hiking group plunges into frigid waterfalls – New Brunswick | 24CA News
The “Extremettes” — a bunch of ladies from New Brunswick who love nature and mountain climbing — are taking life to the acute by actually plunging into journey.
The group of about 100 girls from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and PEI began out as a mountain climbing group, stated founder Patricia Weagle of Moncton.
“We don’t like to do things plainly, we like to do things the extreme way,” she stated.
The group now meets frequently on the banks of waterfalls throughout New Brunswick to plunge into frigid swimming pools even within the lifeless of winter.

“We don’t just look at the waterfalls, we like to get in the waterfalls,” stated Weagle, who stated they typically use two Waterfalls of New Brunswick books written by Nicholas Guitard as their information.
But it’s not only for the frenzy, it’s about leaping into the pool of life and friendship, stated Weagle.
“Being safe with each other and being each other’s buddy and being each other’s smiles,” she stated.
Chrystal Godfrey of Miramichi, N.B., not too long ago joined the group and took a plunge at Henderson Falls in Henderson Settlement simply final week.
“I haven’t thought about it, I am just going to do it,” stated Godfrey, who ended up all smiles as she hit the water together with her new friends.
Crystal Allen says she loves the “rush” she will get when dipping into the water, which is usually close to the freezing level.
“Any time I met new people or have started anew and they are like, ‘Tell me something interesting about yourself,’ well, this is one thing that is interesting that I can share,” stated Allen.
Weagle stated the group does have just a few guidelines, which embody staying out of harmful currents and by no means dipping alone whereas they earn how you can breathe slowly and deeply to take advantage of out of their plunges.
“It is exhilarating and I am going to feel this buzz for a few hours, actually,” Becky Gillcash, among the many founding members, stated following a current dip.
