RCMP fatally shot a person throughout an altercation at a house in Red Deer, Alta., on Thursday, police say.
RCMP say officers in Red Deer have been known as to a house on April 13 at round 4:30 p.m. concerning a person who was reportedly threatening to harm individuals with a knife.
Officers discovered the person “when an altercation occurred between the male and the officers,” RCMP mentioned in a news launch Thursday.
Then, one officer fired their service pistol.
RCMP mentioned the 33-year-old man was pronounced lifeless on the residence.
No officers have been injured.
RCMP notified the director of regulation enforcement and initiated an inner overview.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been directed to analyze.
“Independent of ASIRT’s investigation, the Alberta RCMP’s internal review process has been implemented to gather a full account of what took place during this incident,” the RCMP mentioned in a news launch.
“RCMP training, policy, police response, and the duty status of the members involved will be subject to review.”
