Murdoch, 92, introduced his engagement to Ann Lesley Smith, 66, through his personal publication, The New York Post. He advised the outlet that he met Smith, a former police chaplain, at his California winery final September.
“I met her and we talked a bit. Two weeks later I called her,” Murdoch advised the Post.
Murdoch, who mentioned he’s “one-fourth Irish,” proposed in New York City on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. He offered Smith with an Asscher minimize diamond solitaire ring that he personally chosen.
“I was very nervous,” he mentioned. “I dreaded falling in love — but I knew this would be my last. It better be. I’m happy.”
