‘Dozens and dozens’ of unsolicited food orders bombard New Westminster, B.C. residents  | 24CA News

An odd scenario is unfolding New Westminster’s Victoria Hill neighbourhood as residents stated they’ve obtained dozens, possibly tons of, of unsolicited Uber Eats meals orders.

The orders vary from bottles of water to a doughnut or perhaps a single bowl of gravy — which is all paid for.

“It’s like this insane barrage of deliveries,”  Jennifer Hughes stated, an affected resident. “Every 30 minutes the bags would just show up.”


The Victoria Hill neighbourhood in New Westminster has been focused with dozens of unsolicited meals orders.

There aren’t any names listed on the orders and no particular models or addresses are hooked up to the order outdoors of a generic tackle for a number of townhouse complexes, which has been occurring for weeks, the residents stated.

“We are all at a loss of what to do…it is very wasteful and, seemingly, there is no stopping,” Hughes stated.

“(Thursday) alone there have been dozens and dozens of deliveries in the complete neighbourhood. All piling up in entrance of doorways and rental buildings.“

Hughes stated she reached out to others within the neighbourhood by way of a neighborhood Facebook group the place dozens of different residents stated they have been experiencing the deliveries as nicely.

“There was a lineup down the street in front of our house of delivery drivers,” Geoff McLennan instructed Global News on Saturday.

“They were all laughing to each other and one driver said there were ‘thousands of orders that spiked’ over the recent weeks to the neighbourhood. They didn’t know what was going on either.”

The residents stated they’ve contacted New Westminster police however, in keeping with the residents, police stated they don’t seem to be in a position to tackle the problem.

Uber Eats confirmed the residents’ tales, and an official stated they’ve banned quite a few accounts inserting the orders.

“The reports of unsolicited deliveries are concerning,” an Uber spokesperson stated.

“We will not hesitate to take additional action if the unsolicited orders continue. Uber has a dedicated public safety team that is standing by to work with police.”

Global News has reached out to New Westminister police for remark.
