‘Textbook operation’: COSAR rescues snowmobiler in Graystokes Provincial Park – Okanagan | 24CA News
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) carried out what they name a “textbook operation” Monday afternoon.
The group obtained a name from RCMP shortly earlier than 1 p.m. for a snowmobiler who was injured in a clearing in Graystokes Provincial Park.
Due to the severity of the damage and the freezing rain situations, a medical crew was dispatched by way of helicopter whereas a floor crew adopted on snowmobiles.

COSAR says the 29-year-old snowmobiler and his two companions used an InReach to transmit their location to rescuers, then constructed a fireplace and shelter whereas ready for assist.
“The sledders did everything right. They had an InReach, fire starter, warm clothes and snacks. It made the wait that much more comfortable for their friend,” stated COSAR search supervisor Kevin Birnie.
“These are part of the 10 essentials Adventure Smart advocates for.”
As the visibility decreased within the park, the helicopter was pressured to go away. The sledder was transported out by the snowmobile crew on a medical toboggan.
The 29-year-old was handed off to BC Ambulance Service round 5:30 p.m. and brought to Kelowna General Hospital.
This was COSAR’s twelfth job of the 12 months.
