Schedule announced for 2023 Men’s U18 National Club Championship

The Notre Dame Hounds are heading to Okotoks with a wealth of TELUS Cup
expertise. With 54 wins and a report 5 nationwide titles throughout their 11
appearances at Canada’s National Men’s U18 Club Championship, the Hounds
are on the hunt for an additional success in Southern Alberta.

After edging out the Saskatoon Blazers by a single level atop the
Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL) through the common season,
the Hounds dropped simply two of 11 playoff video games en path to the SMAAAHL
championship, together with a sweep of Warman within the closing.

Notre Dame ran by the preliminary spherical on the West Regional and not using a
loss, and seemed to be answerable for the ultimate with an early 3-0 lead over
the host Southwest Cougars. But the Cougars battled again, and it took an
Andrew Altwasser purpose with 17.2 seconds left to present the Hounds a 4-3
victory and a spot in Okotoks.

But Jeremy Mylymok, Notre Dame’s director of hockey, is fast to level out

“We have four lines that can play,” he says. “We do not depend on one line or
one energy participant or one goalie.”

Notre Dame can be constructed on cohesiveness, with a big portion of the group
having grown up collectively on the Wilcox, Sask.-based faculty.

“We have some first-year, second-year guys, too, however over half the crew is
three- or four-year gamers which have developed right here at Notre Dame,”
Mylymok says. “So we all know these gamers effectively, they actually put within the work
to get the place they’re at at the moment.”

And let’s not neglect the expertise behind the bench. Head coach Del
Pedrick returned to the Hounds this season after a brief stint in Romania;
he was the bench boss when Notre Dame gained back-to-back TELUS Cup
championships in 2009 and 2010.
