Trudeau, Ford to mark electric vehicle manufacturing ‘milestone’ in Ingersoll, Ont. | 24CA News
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to make an announcement this afternoon in southwestern Ontario about electrical car manufacturing.
Trudeau will likely be joined by Ontario Premier Doug Ford and the province’s Economic Development Minister Vic Fedeli for an announcement at 12:15 p.m. ET in Ingersoll, Ont.
Trudeau’s itinerary says the announcement will “mark a milestone in manufacturing electric vehicles.”
The city is dwelling to the General Motors CAMI manufacturing plant, which the automaker introduced in April could be retooled by the tip of the 12 months into what it known as the nation’s first full-scale industrial electrical car manufacturing facility.
The provincial and federal governments every invested $259 million towards that challenge and GM’s plan to make its Oshawa, Ont., plant EV-ready.
Canada intends to bar the sale of latest internal-combustion engines in passenger autos by 2035.
