2 prescribed burns scheduled for South Okanagan next month – Okanagan | 24CA News

Two prescribed burns will quickly happen within the South Okanagan, close to Penticton, B.C.

On Thursday, the BC Wildfire Service mentioned its plans embody the Penticton Indian Band, however the burns received’t occur till mid-March, although preparation work may start as early as Feb. 27.

“The purpose of this prescribed burn is to improve public safety through a reduction in fuel loading within the wildland-urban interface,” mentioned BC Wildfire.
