Vancouver Police shoot and kill man ‘behaving erratically’ on Granville Bridge, IIO called in – BC | 24CA News
The Independant Investigations Office of B.C. has been dispatched after Vancouver Police shot and killed a person on the Granville Bridge, in response to VPD Sgt. Steve Addison.
Addison says the VPD responded to a name round 6:45 p.m. Thursday for a person performing erratically.
“The person had either in his possession or had access to a weapon. The officers who were on scene believed that their safety or the safety of others was in danger or they were at risk of death or grievous bodily harm,” Addison advised Global News.
“When our officers responded, there was an altercation that resulted in shots being fired and sadly, the person was killed in that exchange.”
Police didn’t share what weapon was recovered from the scene.
