Police watchdog investigating Surrey Police Service member’s death in Langley, B.C. | 24CA News
The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) has been referred to as to analyze a Surrey Police Service member’s loss of life in Langley.
IIO officers mentioned RCMP officers tried to find a person in reported misery at a business within the 9900 block of 201 Street on Wednesday afternoon.
When law enforcement officials had been contained in the business, the person, who has been recognized as an off-duty Surrey Police Service member, sustained a “serious injury that appears to have been self-inflicted,” IIO employees mentioned in a launch.
The man was then subsequently pronounced deceased.

Langley RCMP confirmed the incident came about at The Range Langley, a big indoor taking pictures vary.
The man, who has not been recognized, was underneath a suspension with pay order stemming from allegations concerning a breach of belief incident in 2022, SPS confirmed.
“My understanding was that this officer was suspended with pay and was subject to (an) investigation,” Ian MacDonald, a Surrey Police Service spokesperson, mentioned.
“It was a breach of trust investigation that was being fronted by Surrey RCMP and was working its way through BC Prosecution Services.”
