Nine folks died in avalanches in Austria and Italy over the weekend as heavy snow and faculty holidays drew skiers into the Alps, with a few of the victims dying after snowboarding in unmarked areas regardless of warnings of elevated avalanche danger, police mentioned.
On Sunday a snow plow driver in East Tirol in Austria was recovered lifeless after being swept away. In Oetztal a 32-year-old Chinese skier died, whereas in Zillertal a 17-year outdated male from New Zealand was buried and in Kleinwalsertal a 55-year-old German man lacking since Friday was discovered lifeless.
More than a dozen avalanches have been reported within the Tirol area of Austria alone and authorities had set the warning stage at 4 on a scale of 5 and urged warning.

A 31-year-old German lady was killed Saturday within the South Tirol area of Italy when a snowmass broke unfastened at 2,200 meters (7,200 toes) close to the Limo Pass some 80 kilometers (50 miles) east of Bolzano, the dpa news company reported. Rescue efforts have been sophisticated by 120-kilometer-per-hour (75-mile-per-hour) winds; her physique was recovered from beneath 2.5 meters (8.2 toes) of snow. Another lady snowboarding together with her was free of the snow unhurt.
Other victims Saturday included a 29-year-old ski information and his 33-year-old male visitor who have been snowboarding away from ready ski runs when a snowboarder set off an avalanche above them in St. Anton in Austria. And in Kaunertal a 62-year outdated man was killed by one other snowslide.
