The movie sees Kendrick, 37, as Alice, a girl in an emotionally abusive relationship. When Alice and her buddies Tess (Kaniehtiio Horn) and Sophie (Wunmi Mosaku) go away the bustle of Toronto, Ont., for a lady’s cottage journey, Alice’s long-time boyfriend Simon (Charlie Carrick) takes difficulty.
With plain poise, Kendrick leads the viewers by way of Alice’s quiet, inside turmoil. Though Simon, who isn’t a bodily abuser, might look like the best boyfriend on the floor, Kendrick’s efficiency unravels the wounded psyche of Alice, who has been left to deal with Simon’s delicate manipulation and emotional abuse. Combined with the mysterious disappearance of a lady close to the lake the place the ladies are staying, Alice’s story is chilling in its authenticity.
