Pedestrian hit by vehicle after being chased by Abbotsford Police, IIO called in – BC | 24CA News
Abbotsford Police say an individual was hit by a car once they tried to run from officers Sunday night.
Sergeant Paul Walker with Abbotsford Police says round 5:30 p.m. Sunday police have been coping with two folks exterior a restaurant close to South Fraser Way close to Old Yale Road.
“Police were dealing with two people in the complex of the Churches Chicken prior to this incident. As one of our Patrol officers was In the process of proceeding to arrest one of the parties, they fled on foot entering into the roadway along Old Yale Road and immediately hit by a vehicle. The injuries sustained are not life threatening,” Walker stated in an e mail to Global News.
Footage from the scene reveals a white, Dodge Ram pickup truck surrounded by yellow tape with a number of Abbotsford Police automobiles closing off the encompassing roads for hours on Sunday night.
Police say the one that ran from police was dealing with arrest for breach of probation.
They have been taken to an area hospital for remedy.
Since the pedestrian hit was reportedly working from police, the Abbotsford Police Department says B.C’s police watchdog, the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) has been referred to as in.

The IIO is named in to research whether or not police motion or inaction have been components in an individual’s damage or loss of life.
