Former Parti Québécois legislator Harold LeBel has been sentenced to eight months in jail for sexually assaulting a lady at his residence in 2017.
Quebec Superior Court Justice Serge Francoeur accepted the joint sentence advice made Thursday by the prosecution and defence on the courthouse in Rimouski, Que.
LeBel may also serve two years probation, be banned from contacting the sufferer and be registered as a intercourse offender for 20 years.
His sufferer, whose title is protected by a publication ban, stated throughout his trial that he joined her in a mattress at his apartment in 2017 and repeatedly touched her sexually for a number of hours with out her consent.
A jury of 9 girls and three males took two days to achieve a choice final November.
LeBel was a member of the Quebec legislature from 2014 to 2022.
