Inter Milan’s Super Cup celebration ruined with loss to Empoli
MILAN (AP) — Inter Milan’s Italian Super Cup celebration was ruined with a 1-0 house loss to Empoli in Serie A on Monday.
Milan Skriniar was despatched off with two yellow playing cards within the first half to go away Inter with 10 males, and 19-year-old Tommaso Baldanzi scored for Empoli halfway by the second half following a poor effort from Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Before kickoff, Inter offered the Super Cup trophy to its followers following its 3-0 win over metropolis rival AC Milan in Saudi Arabia final week.
Inter remained third, one level behind Milan, which visits Lazio on Tuesday.
Empoli, which prolonged its unbeaten run to 5 matches, moved forward of Juventus into ninth.
Also, Bologna was held 1-1 at house by last-place Cremonese.
