Cubs claim Blue Jays pitcher Anthony Kay off waivers

The Chicago Cubs claimed Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitcher Anthony Kay off waivers on Friday.

Kay had been designated for project on Dec. 16 to make method for Chris Bassitt, who signed as a free agent, within the membership’s 40-man roster.

The 27-year-old Kay spent the previous 4 seasons with the Blue Jays. Last season, Kay solely pitched two innings within the majors, totalling three strikeouts and a 4.50 ERA.
